DIGIT-AL DOZEN WEEK: Red/Green/Gold Poinsettias

Nothing to Disclose

It wouldn't be a holiday season without some poinsettias, would it, lovelies?

No, it would not. (Look at how glorious and long my nails are here! I weep for you, my pretty nails!)

For today's look, I began with a base of two easy coats of Shirin, which is way more gold and way less yellow-orange than it appears on the Mentality website (which is a good thing, for my skin tone). I then painted on the poinsettias with Fire It Up, Tomato, Nightmaren, and St. Petersburgundy. The leaves were done with Recycle and Shawn. The little dots were done with Streetside NYC and Mellow Yellow.

I didn't like these once I'd done them, I found them sloppy, but I think they've grown on me.

Polishes used:
Layla - Souftouch 08 (Fire It Up)
Joe Fresh - Tomato
OPI - St. Petersburgundy
Zoya - Shawn
Sally Hansen - Mellow Yellow
Duri - Rejuvacote (base coat)
medium detail brush

My adventures in nubbiness start tomorrow! I really can't get over it. I've broken nails before but it hasn't ever really been this bad. It'll take at least a month to get any reasonable sort of length back. But I'm trying not to give up hope! Or, not hope, but resilience. Or something. You know what I mean? Sure you do. *whistles*

xo,

J.

  4. First off, LOVING the design. Im a huge grey fan and love the grey/purple combo! I actually was originally going to have that scheme for my blog but then I decided on grey/pink. haha I really adore the banner - especially the font. I love the ribbon designs!

I would personally suggest moving "About Me" above "Find Me". You can think of it this way (although it sounds harsher than I intend I'm sure) - Why would someone want to find you if they don't know about you? haha (Side note - love your name!) I've heard so many times that the first thing people check out is about the blogger. Crazy, huh? But people like that connection. It is great that you have your Introduction page, and plenty to it. Looks great! My only suggestion in this aspect is to maybe change the About Me description on the main page to something that tells a bit more about you outside of polish. Hobbies, career, family, whatever. So people get to know what makes you special. :)

I really love your writing. I actually just giggled reading through some and you really have that sense of friendliness. You have one of those styles that people just feel drawn to. (Myself included!) Your nails arts are incredibly full of talent and very clean, and well photographed! I might be drooling just a bit. haha

Actually besides a little readjustment on the About Me, I'd say your blog is perfect! And even then, that's not a necessity or real turn off. Quite frankly, I'm smitten, and will definitely be following along now!

Oh, and I love that you use Disqus. Can I petition to have everyone switch? haha!

  12. Oh my goodness, Toria, thank you so much for all your feedback! It's totally precious to me. :) I will definitely move my About Me and beef it up a bit-- it does make sense to put it at the top, and I'm not sure why that never occurred to me. (Answer: because the Universe wanted you to come point it out to me!)

After Digit-al Dozen week is over, I have some feedback that I will be leaving for other bloggers, and I'll make sure you come check out your blog while I'm at it, I'd love to return the favour. :) Again, thank you so much!

  18. I'll surely do it, it's the second mani on the to-do-list, I hope I'll make it for Christmas. It may sound annoying, but may I send you the photos of the result when I'll be ready? I'd love to hear your opinion! :)

I did smaller flowers since my nails are not very long, I think yours are far better than mine. Thank you again for the inspiration <3 and merry Christmas!!
