DIGIT-AL DOZEN WEEK: Black & White Plaid

Nothing to Disclose

Hello lovelies! Remember yesterday, when I said that today's mani was my least favourite? It WAS the truth, and then... well... read on.

I'm not sure why it is, but the moment I heard about the theme for this month's Digit-al Dozen week, I knew I was going to do plaid. It was ~fated~.

I actually had to redo this mani as the first attempt was awful. I know, I'm a perfectionist, my definition of awful may vary from the norm-- but I assure you that, in this case, I do mean awful. So I've spared you the sight of it! Hooray!

Of course, Jacob had to come say hello. And flip up my background and install himself in my lightbox until I coaxed him out of there.

I began with two coats of White On, followed by thick lines in Ridnitsohkka. I then went into the intersections of my grey lines and filled them in with Recycle to mimic overlapping. I used White On again for the thin white lines, and Camelot for the thin black lines. My linework is improving, hey?

Polishes used:
Sally Hansen - White On
China Glaze - Recycle
butter LONDON - Nail Foundation (base coat)
thin liner brush
tiny detail brush

I bet you're relieved that today's mani was something more normal, right? I must have been taking a trip through the Twilight Zone yesterday.

xo,

J.

  17. I still think this looks absolutely cool! I also did a plaid mani this week and ... *shivers* ... had to take it off at once, for fear of a heart attack! hahaha
You did great and this one actually is inspiring me to try this design again (fingers crossed :D).
Jacob (love the name, btw) is adorable! Here's a wee pet for him! **

  18. Oh no, I wanna see you do a plaid mani! For real, I have a hard time believing it was THAT bad! ;) I know that feeling, though. The 'oh man what have I DONE' feeling. Terrible!

I will pass on the message of pets to Jacob. He's shy around new people so we'll play relay. :)

  21. I really love these. I've been on a plaid kick lately and think the color palette we had to use lends itself really nicely to this. And girl, straight and clean lines are the bane of my existence! I know exactly how you feel about holding ourselves to different standards. I think all too often we're our own worst critic...but I like to tell myself that's how we improve!

  22. Definitely how we improve! At least, that's absolutely true of me and my quest for Ze Perfect Lines. Your linework is always amazing. :* And thank you!!

  23. This turned out wonderfully. I imagine redoing the design was probably very frustrating, but the end result is fantastic. Your lines look great and you make it look effortless!

  24. This is really beautiful! I think you did a fabulous job on the lines, and the fact that you darkened the little overlap squares is such a nice touch.

  25. Yay! Effortless is definitely not what it was, but I'm so glad it came out looking alright. Thank you so much Meghan!

  26. Thank you darling!

  27. Aw, thank you so much my dear! Those little overlaps almost drove me insane, I'm glad they paid off!!
