Pointy Shapes?

Nothing to Disclose

Hello lovelies!

Today's endeavour is C for Colour Blocking.

I did not colour block. I'm not sure what to call this, but most colour blocking I've seen involved striping tape, and I am not on speaking terms with striping tape.

So this was (messily!) freehanded with four different polishes on a clear base: Rendezvous (ironically takes FOREVER to dry and WILL smear in top coat... What gives, Seche? What happened to the Vite part??), Love at First Sight, Streetside NYC, and Xixabangma. Of note is that all of these shades were 1 coaters, which I know because I did a plain skittle on my Cinderella hand. ONE COATERS!

I think my top coat and base coat decided to get together and have tons of little bubble babies. I cannot otherwise explain their presence. (Though I didn't see a stork, so I might be wrong.)

I think this look would be pretty sharp if I were to redo it in acrylics. I'd be able to get in a lot more detail. So that's a scheme on the back burner for now, along with all my other schemes, 90% of which I forget the moment I consign them to the aforementioned back burner.

Polishes used:
Duri - Rejuvacote (base coat)
Seche - Rendezvous
Elevation Polish - Streetside NYC, Xixabangma (discontinued! sob!)
detail brush

I'm off to the mountains (actually, I'm already IN the mountains-- I am transmitting this from the past by magic)! I'll be back tomorrow afternoon, so I hope to get in my D prompt for you darlings tomorrow evening. :)

Bubbles!

Nothing to Disclose

Hello my lovelies!

GUESS WHAT.

You didn't guess. I can tell.

Fiiiiine.

This is my 100th post! I have survived 100 posts! You have survived 100 of my posts! We should drink to this. I'll go get us some wine. I hope you like sauvignon blanc, because I hate champagne.

Kanpai!

Much better. Okay, onto business! I've gotta catch up on my Follow the Devil ABC Challenge prompts, I've been away for a whole three weekends! First up: B, for bubbles.

I cannot lie, I sort of hate these. I mean, the base polish is two beautiful, amazing coats of Teal Another Tail, the polish with which I'm convinced KBShimmer is going to take over the world. Words alone cannot express this polish. If you are in the States, hie thee to the KBShimmer store. If you are in the rest of the world, stalk Harlow & Co for the next restock. You need this in your life.

But then I failed at making nice bubbles (like, I kind of just can't do them??), and stuck some pearls on it for good measure. So now it's gaudy and weird. The little seashell, though, I really like. I got it from The Nail Room, which stocks a small assortment of Japanese nail art supplies right now-- I'm hoping their stock will keep growing, because I will not hide my lusting after some of the creations of Japanese nail artists like @hana4 and @oshimanails (who runs The Nail Room) and @nailsalonavarice. It's so hard to find their dainty supplies, though, and I don't speak Japanese... so yeah... hurrah for The Nail Room!

The pearls are kind of driving me nuts. I'm touching them now and their roundness is getting to me.

Zoom the above picture, you must, just bask in the glass fleck beauty of this polish, just do it!

Polishes used:
Duri - Rejuvacote (base coat)
white acrylic paint
pearls from Born Pretty Store
nail glue

Colour blocking for you tomorrow, denim for you on Sunday, and I should be all caught up! Hooray!

I'm alive! But barely!

Nothing to Disclose

 Hello lovelies!

I'm still in Montreal. I was supposed to leave yesterday, but then I got The Summer Cold To End All Summer Colds and proceeded to spend three days in bed horking mucus via various facial orifices. A good time was had by all... the little virus buddies... taking over my body.

So I postponed my flight. I miss nail art. I return on Wednesday evening and will likely spend the next week ensconced at home, doing a nail art look every day or two. I gotta catch up!!

In the meantime, here (from my Instagram feed) are some things I've been up to lately:

I wore three coats of Ciaté's Ferris Wheel (augh, THREE COATS) with two coats of Lac Attack's Death Day Party over top! I love me some flakies. These charcoal flakies shifted purple and gold, very lovely.

I did a framed dotticure with... a bunch of things. Some random greyish polish that my mom had (Rimmel, I think), piCture pOlish's Sunset, Ruby Wing's Eternal, and white.

And I did my friend Laurent's nails! He's such a good sport. I will definitely revisit mermaid (/merman) nails in future. I could spend hours and hours on this look, but I feel like maybe his arms would have fallen off at that point. I'm told that cashiers gave him lots of compliments on these. I used the same base of Ferris Wheel and Death Day Party as above, then used a random Bourjois navy polish and acetone for the scales, some of which I dotted full of my custom Tryst Lacquer, Aqueous, and some of which I dotted full of a NOPI shimmery white whose name I've forgotten (but it's a lot like OPI's Happy Anniversary).

I will return to you lovelies later this week! I've got quite the queue of ABC Challenge prompts to catch up on, plus a couple other assorted ideas. :) Do stick around!

J.
