Neon Brushstrokes

Nothing to Disclose

Hello lovelies! I'm on the fence about this one; maybe you can help me figure out if I like it or not.

I got this idea from Missy's somewhat similar brushstroke-ness-thing. I like hers way way WAY better.

For this look, I began with a gradient of Sacred Ground, Ridnitsohkka, and Tempest. I then did brushstrokes on top with Punki Pink, Solar Flake, Orange Flame, Lime Light, and Charisma. I topped it off with little studs from Born Pretty.

Polishes used:
Spa Ritual - Sacred Ground (this polish is amazing, if you do not own it you are crazypants)
Elevation Polish - Ridnitsohkka (being reformulated; restock due 7 August 2013)
Finger Paints - Punki Pink, Solar Flare, Orange Flame, Lime Light
Zoya - Charisma
Orly - Bonder (base coat)
black 1.5mm studs from Born Pretty

So, yea or nay? I honestly am not sure. I think I liked this in principle way more than in practice. At any rate. Until next time, my lovelies!

xo,

One-stroke Roses

Hey, guess what! One-stroke is harder than water marbling. By several orders of magnitude. I used up a whole nail wheel only to end up with a mediocre result anyway. Those who can do one-stroke well are MADE OF MAGIC.

@seizethenail is having a contest based on 'tattoo style', and I've always found that one-stroke roses look like tattoo roses. Of course, I ended up with wild roses, not red roses. And I can't one-stroke to save my life. And this looks like wallpaper. SO IT GOES.

These are all acrylics on a base of Black Expressionism. (What a weird-ass name for a polish.)

Polishes used:
Finger Paints - Black Expressionism
Nail Pattern Boldness - Glitter A-Peel (base coat)
Seche Vite - top coat
acrylic paints
one-stroke brush
detail brush

Neon Animal Print

... Now those are three words I never thought I'd say. This has to be the most un-me nail art I've done so far, and I'm in love with it nonetheless.

For this look, I started out with a base of Spirit, then painted on various blobs / stripes / dots / curves in the neons. Once dry, I used black acrylic paint for the leopard spots and the... miscellaneous stripes? Not sure what the heck animal I ended up with, there. (It's my very first time doing any kind of animal print; please be gentle.)

I've tried to take photos in various lighting conditions to capture the neon, but no photos ever really do capture neon. Neon is the vampire of the 80s and it refuses to show up in photos.

I find it fitting that I painted these yesterday, when it was +30˚C out, and took photos of them today, when it is +15˚C out (and was +5˚C this morning!). I live in a terrifying place.

Polishes used:
Revlon - Spirit
Nina Ultra Pro - Punki Pink, Orange Flame, Solar Flare
Finger Paints - Silkscreen Green
Duri - Rejuvacote (base coat)
Seche Vite (top coat)
black acrylic paint
striping brush, detail brush, tiny dotting tool

Hoping and praying for the warmth to come back,

J.
